There’s a new kid on Apple’s block. Microsoft has finally launched its first flagship store on 677 Fifth Avenue in New York City, the store is located close to Apple’s iconic cube on Fifth Avenue. The company waited patiently for six years just so the right real estate could be available for it to build the flagship store on.

The new store is one of over 110 retail stores that Microsoft operates in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, though it’s certainly the first of its kind as far as square footage and design goes. The new store extends two levels and covers 22,269 square feet, it’s the largest Microsoft store to date.

Expect the company’s products like the new Surface tablets, Surface Book, Microsoft Band, Xbox One, Office, accessories and much more to be prominently featured throughout the store. It’s also the only store that showcases the Microsoft Surface Hub.

An Answer Desk at the store will provide customers with support for PCs and phones regardless of where that device was purchased from. Two community theaters will be available for free to host community and educational programs.

Microsoft has also built a “culture wall” on the outside which will be used to display digital imagery “representative of the vibrant Fifth Avenue shopping district culture,” this 40ft by 20ft wall will display artistic non-commercial images that go nicely with the building’s architecture and façade.

To celebrate the opening of its flagship store in New York City the company is donating some $3 million in software and technology grants to 14 New York organizations which are mainly focused on educating and helping youths.
