We’re sure we’ve all seen TV shows and movies where flashlights fail at the most inopportune moments because it is out of battery. Now if you’d like to stock up on some flashlights at home for if and when there is a blackout, or if you want to bring one with you camping but don’t want to worry about batteries, then the Lumen flashlight might be for you.

The Lumen is actually a pretty tiny flashlight, which from what we can tell from the photos seems to be slightly larger than a typical USB flash drive, but we suppose that’s a good thing since it won’t take up too much space in your bag. In fact it’s small enough to slip into your pocket or hung on a keychain.

It will also be powered by your body heat. All you’d have to do is place your thumb/finger over the sensor to power it. The flashlight itself will feature a single 5-mm ultrabright Cree LED, which is admittedly a bit small but hopefully bright enough to get the job done. We doubt you’d be able to find much with the flashlight, but it might come in handy if you’re just trying to look around for items and not necessarily navigating your way through the jungle.

As it stands, the Lumen flashlight is on Kickstarter where it is trying to raise funding. So far it has managed to surpass its goal 3 times over, but if you’d like to get in on the action then hit up its Kickstarter page for the details.
