halo_5_60gbAccording to Microsoft’s listing of Halo 5: Guardians on its website, it says that the game (for the Xbox One) will require 46.19GB for installation. As if that wasn’t big enough, according to newly posted photos (via destructoid) of the game’s box that have made their way online, it seems that Halo 5: Guardians might need more space, 60GB to be specific.

We’re not sure what’s with the discrepancies here, but it has been speculated that the box might list 60GB because there could be an incoming day one patch that will weigh pretty heavy, so better to have more space for it than having gamers struggle with freeing up storage when the game has been released.

This is pretty much what the box states on the back where it says that some updates might be required, hence the larger than listed install size. It is also possible that Microsoft is simply overestimating the install size just to be safe. After all there are still plenty of Xbox One gamers out there who might only have the 500GB version of the console, so space for new game installs could be getting tight.

There is also the possibility that it might be a misprint. In any case we suppose we will have to wait for the game’s release to find out if there is a day one patch awaiting us and if the game will truly take up 60GB of the Xbox One. Halo 5: Guardians has been pegged for an official release on the 27th of October.
