HBO’s over-the-top internet TV streaming service went live earlier this year, it was initially exclusive to Apple devices before being gradually expanded to cover other platforms as well. Now it’s available on some of the most widely used streaming media platforms as well as mobile platforms but Roku has been missing from that list since launch, today though HBO Now has finally landed on Roku.

It’s great timing too, only a few days ago a new Roku streaming player was announced, the Roku 4 brings 4K streaming capabilities and much powerful hardware.

Roku’s platform doesn’t have a shortage of apps and channels, there are already more than 3,000 available for the platform, but HBO Now has been glaring omission. It’s one of the most widely watched cable networks that has produced hit shows like Game of Thrones, to name just one, so you can image that many Roku users were anxious to find out when HBO Now would be available for their preferred streaming platform.

It has been confirmed by Roku that HBO Now is indeed going live for their platform, the channel hasn’t appeared online on the Roku Channel Store as yet, but the company says that it will go live “later this morning,” and that it will also work on all current generation players, so you don’t necessarily need the new Roku player to enjoy streaming HBO Now.
