If your phone is running low on battery, what you can do is either plug it into a wall socket or a computer and charge it. Alternatively you could also rely on battery packs and battery cases, but what if all those options are not available to you? Thankfully there is a gadget called the LifeCable that might solve that problem.

Basically what the LifeCable is is a cable that can draw power from another device, like another smartphone, and use that power to charge yours. Now if you’re thinking that what if the other person uses an iPhone/Android handset? Fret not because LifeCable’s cable will feature connectors for either micro USB or Lightning.

Now according to its creators, they state that the speed of charging will be pretty fast, or at least as fast as if you were to connect it to a computer. “This technology is able to quickly andsafely take power from almost any smartphone, so there’s no need to worry about potential damage to your device or your neighbor’s device. Power flows at a rate that is about the same as a standard charging cable plugged into a computer USB port, allowing for fast and hassle-free charging.”

It is a great idea although we reckon that it might not necessarily be a convenient solution. What if you end up draining the other person’s phone? We suppose that could happen, but if they have a spare handset or a spare tablet, you could always draw power from that worst comes to worst, and we suppose you could even share some of that power back.

LifeCable is currently on Indiegogo seeking funding, so if you think it’s a great idea that you’d like to contribute to, head on over for the details.
