Last year Nokia released a nifty little accessory that actually serves a great purpose particularly for those who are prone to forgetting things, called Treasure Tags, the accessories were basically tags the size of a matchbox attached to things like keys and wallet. They connected with the smartphone via NFC and Bluetooth and would sound an alarm if the user left the premises with their tagged items left behind.

It appears that Microsoft might be announcing new Treasure Tags in the very near future, a filing the company has made with the FCC has been uncovered which reveals that it has been developing a new version of this technology.

The FCC filing shows that the new Treasure Tags are internally referred to as “Valora,” and there’s even a drawing of the product to give an idea of what it’s going to look like when the company formally announces it.

The new tags will reportedly work with both iOS and Android aside from Windows Phone, making them exclusive to Microsoft’s mobile platform won’t exactly be smart, and are said to feature an improved design as opposed to their predecessors.

Microsoft has obviously said nothing about when it’s likely to unveil this new accessory, but given that the company has an event coming up soon where it’s going to unveil new Lumia handsets and a Surface tablet, it’s likely that we might hear about the new Treasure Tags at the upcoming event.
