While Microsoft has their own Windows mobile platform to be concerned about, it certainly has not stopped the Redmond company from creating apps for other platforms. We’ve already seen them release a variety of apps designed specifically for Android, we’ve also seen apps launch for both iOS and Android, and now thanks to the latest project from Microsoft Garage, they have launched a new iOS app called Twist.

While on the surface it might seem like the Twist app is just another messaging app, Microsoft has instead taken to calling it an app that allows users to engage in photo conversations. To be fair, we suppose it isn’t your typical messaging app. Basically you send photos to your friends, and they reply by sending another photo that “completes” the photo. The end result are photos that are weird, funny, or disturbing mashups that’s really limited to your creativity.

According to Jennifer Shen, the principal program manager lead, “Many messaging apps are adding functionality to make their experiences feel richer, such as stickers, emoji and animated gifs. We wanted to look at ways we could make that experience even better. That’s how we landed on a photo canvas as a rich medium, as a way you can really share your current situation, funny moments, spark creativity, etc.”

If this sounds like an app you’d like to check out, you can head on over to the iTunes App Store for the free download. Take note that the app will only be available in both the US and Canadian markets at launch.
