droid-maxx-2-shotsYesterday we reported that come 27th October, Verizon and Motorola will be officially announcing new phones. Given Motorola and Verizon’s relationship, chances are these phones will be part of the Droid lineup of Android smartphones. We have also heard rumors of two potential devices, the Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid MAXX 2.

Turns out it looks like at least one of the devices has been confirmed accidentally by Motorola. The company had recently published their own stock email app in the Google Play Store. As is the case with app uploads, screenshots are always accompanied and in the screenshots, you can clearly see that the email is being sent and signed off using the Droid MAXX 2.

We’re not sure how Motorola did not catch that, or maybe they did and they just don’t care since the announcement is around the corner, but either way we guess it’s nice to have it confirmed all the same. We’re not sure what is with the case with the Droid Turbo 2, but assuming it is equally real, we will learn more in the coming weeks.

In the meantime for those unfamiliar with the Droid MAXX 2 and Droid Turbo 2 rumors, basically these are rebranded versions of the Moto X Play and the Moto X Force respectively. We’re not sure if Motorola will be maintaining the same design or stuffing the hardware into a new body, but check back with in a couple of weeks for the details.
