nanoflowcellWhere electric vehicles are concerned, most of the time the name Tesla comes to mind – so much so that even Tesla’s batteries are said to be able to power buildings eventually. Well, there are other players in the electric vehicle market, and NanoFlowcell AG happens to be one of them – where their large sized fuel-cell Quant F that tips the scales at more than 5,000 pounds is a sheer monster. This all-wheel-drive vehicle does not shirk its responsibilities when it comes to power, however, as it is able to spring from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under three seconds, while it boasts of a powertrain that has 1,075 horsepower. Not only that, the ride itself will be able to go for over 500 miles on a full charge, hitting a top speed of 186 miles per hour.

More interestingly is the fact that NanoFlowcell intends to come up with a powertrain that will feature a fuel cell which will be powered from salt water rather than the traditional mix of hydrogen and oxygen. In other words, an “electrolyte fuel” that can be found in abundance here on earth. Construction on a new facility dubbed as “Quant City” is set to kick off next year in Ticino, Switzerland, with an initial target of seeing it completed by the time 2018 rolls around.
