overwatch screenshot3Blizzard’s upcoming shooter Overwatch is an important game for the company. This is because this is basically the first new franchise from Blizzard in a very, very, long time. Given how Blizzard manages their franchises, safe to say that there is a lot riding on this. Now the good news is that if you wanted to see if Blizzard has done a good job, the upcoming beta might be of interest to you.

The company has recently announced on its website that come October 27, the Overwatch beta will be kicking off. “The Overwatch beta officially begins October 27, and we’re getting ready to invite our first batch of recruits for some field-testing! Read the mission briefing below to learn more about our plans for the beta, and don’t forget to sign up if you’re interested in helping us shape the fight for the future.”

However this is a closed beta meaning that you will need to sign up in order to participate in it, although there is no guarantee that if you do you will be given a spot, but you can try your luck all the same. The goal of this particular beta is for feedback on the game, the maps, the balancing, and so on.

It will be open to the Americas region first before branching out to Europe and Asia in the future, so if you’d like to take part in it, hit up Blizzard’s website for the details, but note that a valid Battle.net account will be required.
