The lucrative holiday shopping season approaches and PayPal would certainly want to increase its percentage of online sales during the season, for this reason the company announced today that it’s expanding the free returns service “Return Shipping on Us.” For the first time since this service was launched in markets overseas it is now available to shoppers within these United States, and with the U.S. launch this service is now live in a total of 37 markets across the globe.

It’s basically additional buyer protection that online shoppers can take advantage of but obviously the requirement is that they must pay by PayPal to get “Return Shipping on Us.”

If shoppers are not satisfied with their purchase they can simply send it back and PayPal will cover the shipping, not only will this make people pay more with PayPal, but it will also encourage them to shop from merchants located overseas, merchants that they might not be familiar with. It becomes much easier to take a chance on such a merchant when you know that the return isn’t going to cost you a dime.

To use this service shoppers have to go to paypal.com/returns and fill out an online form, they’ll need to provide a copy of the sales receipt, all claims must be filed within two weeks of shipping. It takes 10 to 14 days for PayPal to process the refund which is capped at $30 and limited to four purchases.
