If you’re looking for a desk that doesn’t cost too much, you might be interested in a New Zealand company by the name of Refold. The company has recently taken the wraps off a desk that is made out of cardboard. It is portable too and can also double as a standing desk if that’s what you prefer.
How much for it? $250 will be its asking price. Given that there are some standing desk models that cost over $1,000, safe to say that $250 isn’t too bad. The best part is that the desk is made from cardboard meaning that you can recycle it. It also means you can transport it with you, so if you’re running a business that’s highly mobile, this could be a good setup.
Now you might be thinking, a desk made from cardboard? Wouldn’t that just crumple if you put too much stuff on it? Sure, that makes sense, but according to its creators, the desk will be able to withstand up to 187 pounds. This means placing a computer on it shouldn’t be an issue. As for its longevity, Refold estimates it could last you 1-3 years, depending on how much you use it.
As the folks at Mashable have pointed out, Refold isn’t the first portable standing desk out there. However if you like the idea that it is “green”, then perhaps it could be worth checking out.
