Samsung’s Exynos chipsets are typically found in the company’s own mobile products, and from what we’ve seen in various speed tests, the Exynos chipsets are pretty impressive in their own rights, holding their own or beating out the competition. However it looks like Samsung has a new SoC codenamed “Mongoose” that looks like it could blow its own chipsets out the water.
This is according to recent benchmarks that have surfaced, showing off the alleged scores the Mongoose chipset scored in single-core and multi-core tests. According to the scores, the Mongoose managed to rack up 2,294 points in single-core tests and 6,908 in multi-core tests. This is versus the 1,486 single-core and 4,970 multi-core tests for the Exynos 7420, which for those unfamiliar is being used in the Samsung Galaxy S6.
As you can tell from the numbers, the difference in points is huge meaning that the Mongoose, also referred to as the Exynos M1, is quite the beast. Given that the mongoose animal itself is supposed to be pretty fast, it looks like the chipset is very aptly named. Now we have heard that Samsung is working on an Exynos 8890 chipset that is supposed to make its way into the Galaxy S7.
We can’t be sure right now if the Exynos 8890 is the same chipset as the Exynos M1, or if this is an entirely different chipset, but either way we’ll be keeping an eye out for more information regarding either chipset.
