savantYou might not have heard of Savant Systems before, but they happen to be a company that sells home automation systems for those who are financially sound. Steve Jobs, the late Apple CEO, made use of Savant in order to automate Venus, his super yacht, so you know what kind of clientele that they are dealing with. It seems that Savant now wants to make things more accessible for the masses with their new Savant Remote.

William Lynch, Savant’s new CEO, shared, “For the 1% of the 1%, we are the home automation company of choice. It’s only been available for the uber wealthy. Now we want to make the Savant experience available to everyone.”

Perhaps “everyone” here would be too broad a term, as from early this December onward, the Savant Remote will arrive with a recommended retail price of $500 a pop – where that will net you the remote itself in addition to a bridge device which is capable of communicating with third-party devices, including Roku’s streaming video box or Sonos’ speakers, via WiFi and Bluetooth. Savant also boasted that the Savant Remote is able to integrate with over 380,000 third-party devices in the market, making it a universal remote of sorts when it comes to controlling various connected smart home gadgets that are starting to gain a foothold across different households. Will Savant be a household name eventually? Only time will be able to tell, but it sure as heck is cool!
