htc-vive-01The price of the Oculus Rift headset is still a mystery. However so far what we do know is that it will cost $1,500 all-in, meaning that is the price of the headset along with a brand new PC that will be capable of running it. This seems to suggest that virtual reality will need some pretty good specs to get it up and running.

That being said, how many of you guys will actually bother upgrading your PC just for virtual reality? Turns out that it is almost a 50-50 split. According to a recent survey conducted by Valve, it seems that 42% of gamers who participated in the survey would not upgrade their PCs just for virtual reality.

We suppose another way of looking at it would be that 58% of gamers would, which is good news. It is possible that in the 42%, there are some who already run killer rigs who don’t see the need to upgrade since their rigs might already be more than enough. As it stands, we are not sure what the requirements would be for Valve’s virtual reality headset either.

The goal of the survey was to help developers of virtual reality better understand their audience. The survey also found that the average space that gamers will clear for virtual reality is relatively small, meaning that developers will have to take that into consideration as well.
