A couple of months back a new YouTube app was launched, it’s intended for kids and only surfaces videos that are deemed appropriate for children, plus parents get tools to curate their child’s experience on the app. It has since been limited to smartphone and tablets but today’s update will allow users to take that content far beyond mobile devices, it adds support for streaming content to devices like the Apple TV and Chromecast.

YouTube Kids has been downloaded more than 8 million times and has consistently ranked in the top 5 kids app in the App Store, it also has a 4+ rating on Google Play. People really like the app.

Streaming of content to devices like game consoles, Apple TV, Chromecast and smart TVs is now possible making it much easier to push all of that content to the big screen.

The app gets guest-curated playlists from the likes of Kid President, National Geographic Kids and a girl power-themed playlist from Geena Davis, more will be added soon from Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls and multiple YouTube creators.

Every day new videos are produced and uploaded to YouTube Kids, there are even new original shows from DreamWorksTV, SciShow Kids, HooplaKidz and many more. YouTube Kids is available as a free download from the Play Store.
