The character roster for Street Fighter 5 is gradually being revealed, we’ve also see an entirely new character that’s going to make its debut in this franchise with this title, while we’ve seen some older characters returning as well. Russian wrestler Zangief will feature as a playable character in Street Fighter 5. So far 13 playable characters have been revealed with three characters yet to be revealed for the roster to become complete.

Fans of the franchise might be aware that Zangief’s first Street Fighter appearance was back in 1991’s Street Fighter 2. At first glance the character might not look all that different from the 1991 version but several changes have been made.

Despite the changes Zangief retains his spinning lariat and command throws in this arsenal, he also gets new V-Skill and V-Trigger moves, the former is called Iron Muscle and allows him to absorb an opponent’s hit and leaves Zangief with recoverable health. Zangief will spin, pull opponent and hit multiple times if a V-Trigger move is made.

A short gameplay trailer has also been released which shows Zangief in action. Capcom has already revealed that Street Fighter 5 will be released for PlayStation 4 and the Windows PC in the coming year. It shouldn’t take too long for all of the characters to be unveiled.
