e-tron-quattro-audi-1It is safe to say that for now, gas-powered cars are still the majority. However with carmakers starting to look towards hybrids and electric vehicles, it is probably inevitable that one day we will see gas-powered cars start to be phased out in favor of more greener options. That being said, Audi expects the same.

Speaking at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Audi America’s President Scott Keogh stated that in 10 years, he expects that 25% of the carmaker’s lineup will be of the electric variety. Of course this also means that 75% will not, but hopefully we can look forward to more hybrids and gas-powered cars that are at least more fuel efficient than they are today.

As it stands, Audi is currently in the process of turning some of their cars into electric models. They are also working on new models, like the e-Tron Quattro Concept electric vehicle which the company expects will go on sale in 2018, so you should probably not hold your breath for now.

They are also planning to offer a DC quick-charging networking operating at 150 kilowatts that could launch alongside the e-Tron Quattro. Given that charging stations aren’t as widely available, and the length it takes to charge and electric car, it is understandable why some customers are put off by the idea of an electric car, but hopefully with more charging stations being available and offering charging at faster speeds, this perception will change.
