t-mobile logo 2T-Mobile is back to disrupt the world of data yet again, as it seems that earlier rumors of the company offering unlimited streaming for Netflix and HBO have turned out to be true – and then some. Binge On from T-Mobile has just been announced, which would mean that those who would like to stream video on Netflix, Hulu, HBO, WatchESPN alongside up to 20 or so other apps will no longer be counted as part of your mobile data quota.

This particular move should make streamers pleased as punch, and T-Mobile claims that this offer will be able to work without having their network overwhelmed, and neither will their profits be affected as the mobile carrier is working alongside media companies to optimize their apps. It is certainly a very, very tantalizing proposition taking into consideration how T-Mobile’s rivals are not offering anything else that is in the same vein.

T-Mobile Chief Executive John Legere shared, “Customers have a huge and increasing appetite for new and innovative ways to use their smartphones. But what I see is there’s amazing content being created, but it’s being created for movie and TV screens. All content is going to the Internet, and I’m trying to get it mobile. It’s a huge disconnect. A big, big portion of data is wasted.”

You can forget about Full HD video or even 4K video here, as the new system from T-Mobile will arrive in 480p resolution at the moment, making it three times more efficient where data usage is concerned. Known as Binge On, this service will kick off over the next fortnight, and is free should you purchase any data plan. [Press Release]
