youtube_luckyGoogle search has a “I’m feeling lucky” button. For those who have never tried to use this button, what happens is that you type in something you’re looking for, press the button, and Google will take you straight away to the website that best matches your search. Sometimes it’s exactly what you’re after, sometimes it’s not, but for the most part it is pretty spot on.

This is why it is odd that YouTube does not have such a feature, especially when you consider that YouTube is owned by Google. You would think that the company would have applied some of its technology, right? The good news is that there is such a button, but it comes courtesy of developer Saikat Guha.

The idea is the same as Google’s own button. You type what you are searching for in YouTube’s search box, press the button, and voila, you will be taken to the video that best matches what you were searching for. This will allow users to skip the search results which sometimes can be a little overwhelming.

Of course this feature is also a bit of a gamble like Google’s own button, but if you’re all about efficiency, head on over to the Chrome Web Store for the free download.
