2877887-fallout4_trailer_end_1433355589Fallout 4 will be released in a few days’ time and the game has been available for preloading for console gamers. However it seems that if you are an Xbox One gamer, there is a chance that the file you have downloaded could simply be a placeholder. This was recently confirmed by the folks at Bethesda via the Fallout 4 forums.

Basically if you downloaded the game before or on the 27th of October, you will need to redowload it again. “We know you’re ready for Fallout 4 on November 10th, and for those that digitally pre-ordered on Xbox One, we want to make sure you’re ready to jump in right away. If you’ve digitally pre-ordered the game on Xbox One on or before 10/27 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect “stub file” for the title, which is simply a placeholder file. Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title.”

Basically this is sort of like a blank file so come 10th of November, you will find yourself unable to play the game until you download the actual copy. Thankfully Bethesda has put up the instructions on how to go about uninstalling the placeholder file, so if you’d like to avoid and delays on launch day, head on over to the Bethesda forums for the details.
