tesla model s p85dIf you would like to steal a car, perhaps the record breaking Tesla Model S should not be on your list, especially after what has just happened. Katya Pinkowski, a resident in Vancouver who gets around in her Tesla Model S, attended a concert last Thursday, but failed to find her Model S electric car in the underground parking afterwards. She called the towing company that serviced the parking lot just in case it was towed away, but upon receiving a negative answer , her heart sank as she knew she was the victim of a car thief. What did she do next?

She then called her husband about her predicament, and in a spot of fast thinking, Cary Pinkowski made use of Tesla’s iPhone app to figure out the vehicle’s location while keeping tabs on its movements. Once the location of the Tesla Model S is locked, it is just a simple matter of informing the police and relaying the real time movement and location of the vehicle to the 911 operator who then informed the Richmond RCMP ((Canadian federal police).

The Richmond RCMP stated that they managed to surround the vehicle before making an arrest, and the ride was subsequently returned to the Pinkowskis. We do wonder if the thief did look for the Ludicrous Mode button just in case it was there…
