Lady Pitch Night: Celebrating Women Taking the Lead in Tech

git_lpn_usa_square_hrWith all of the talk of unicorns, funding and IPOs, the core quality surrounding startups — passion — seems to get lost. Passion is what drives so many people to stop everything they are doing and start something completely new, whether is creating an app of convenience or a technology that solves a life-threatening problem for a friend or family member.

That same passion and drive is what lead me to create Girls In Tech. We strive to empower, engage and educate women in the field of technology who need a place to cultivate ideas around their careers and business concepts. To further reinforce our passion and support for female entrepreneurship will be hosting Lady Pitch Night, a half-day pitch competition for female entrepreneurs who are leading early-stage technology startups, on November 10 at the new Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center in San Francisco (shameless plug: tickets are still available!).

While we have some amazing women currently setting a great example at the helm of major corporations like Ursula Burns(Xerox), Marissa Mayer (Yahoo) and Mary Barra (GM), I’m more intrigued by those leading the charge at the ground floor, those at new and emerging startups. That is why I can’t wait Lady Pitch Night where I can see all of these amazing women pitch with all of their hearts and souls to push their dreams closer to reality.

Each of these startups demonstrate passion as do the nearly 200 applicants for the competition overall. I am impressed and excited by their drive and can’t wait to see what’s in store for each and everyone. They are a great day reminder to ask yourself — what’s your passion?
