It was announced by the HomePlug alliance today that an entirely new line of products touting the HomePlug AV2 technology are now available from Best Buy, the Dead Spot Terminator line will provide Wi-Fi coverage throughout the home by eliminating dead spots where coverage is non-existent. All of these products will be marked as “DST” so that customers know at a glance what it is they’re buying.
The product line includes a new router and Wi-Fi extenders, Best Buy will provide Geek Squad setup and support, and it will sell those products both online and through retail locations.
Netgear’s recently launched Nighthawk DST AC1900 Wireless-AC Gigabit Router with DST Adapter is now available exclusively from Best Buy, the router features 802.11ac Wi-Fi with embedded HomePlug AV2 technology within the router. There’s a DST wireless extender inside the kit and customers can purchase additional extenders as per their requirements.
“By offering a hybrid solution with next-generation wired and wireless technologies, customers are able to enjoy whole-home connectivity for high-demand applications, such as streaming 4k Ultra HD video and online gaming, with greater ease of installation,” says Rob Ranck, president of the HomePlug alliance.
The new products enter Best Buy’s substantial portfolio of home networking devices that come with HomePlug AV and HomePlug AV2 technology, it already carries networking devices from manufacturers like TP-Link, Netgear, Monster, Blossom and many others.
