The Nexus 6P is Google’s latest and great Nexus handset to date, but it also seems to have been hit with a series of problems. For example just earlier this month, there were reports that the back camera glass of the handset was spontaneously breaking for some users. Now according to reports, there seems to be microphone issues as well.
According to one user, “So I’ve been making calls and I’ve noticed that when I try to talk on speaker phone, the other person on the call always complains that they can’t hear me. I’ve found this happening consistently and with other callers too. I’m extremely disappointed and want to know if there is something that can be done.”
Other users have also reported similar issues and it seems that the problem could possibly be traced back to noise cancelling. According to poster Nicholas Fitchett, “I turned off noise cancelling via build prop and it fixed it for me. This goes back to the nexus 5 and nexus 6 as well. I doubt its a hardware issue. Google really needs to enable a setting for this or use better software.”
That being said, the good news is that it seems to be more of a software issue than a hardware one, so don’t bother rushing back to the store to get a new model just yet (assuming you can wait for a fix). Google representatives in the product forums have also acknowledged the issue, so hopefully we will see a fix soon. In the meantime any of our readers experiencing this problem themselves?
