Takata, a company that supplies airbag systems, was recently fined $70 million by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because it failed to disclose defects in its airbags. This is a serious matter given that airbags can be the difference between life and death in the case of an accident. Takata’s customers are rightly concerned, with Honda recently dropping the company as its airbag supplier, and now Nissan has followed suit as well.

Toyota is also one of the many major car companies that did business with Takata but in light of recent events it has also decided to drop Takata as an airbag supplier.

Just last week Honda said that it will stop using Takata’s products in its cars because the company had “misrepresented and manipulated test data.” Nissan echoed these sentiments, a spokesman for the company said that given the recent announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the car maker has decided no longer use its products.

The most vehicles recalled due to faulty Takata airbags are from Honda, Toyota and Nissan, so naturally they may not have nice things to say about the company at this point in time. Earlier this week Mazda also said that it will stop using Takata airbag inflators whereas Fuji Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi is also considering the same course of action.
