operaOur phones are literally computers that fit into our pocket. They can take photos, take videos, play games, write up emails, documents, create spreadsheets, make new music, and etc. However there are some aspects of our phones that consumes a lot of data, like watching videos online.

The good news is that if you’re looking for a way to not consume so much data while on your cellular data plan, Opera has you covered. The company has recently announced updates that they have made to the Opera and Opera mini browsers for Android. One of those features is video compression.

What this means is that if you were to watch videos through the Opera browser, the size of the video would be compressed so as not to eat up too much of your data plan. According to Opera, “From now on, users will see less of the dreaded video-buffering wheel, as Opera browser for Android is coming to the rescue with video compression.”

In addition, the company has unveiled a new logo which you can check out above, along with installable web apps. Opera mini has also undergone some improvements, like a better download manager, improved tab switching, and a better notification feature. Both apps are available for download so head on over to Google Play for Opera browser or Opera mini.
