Harmonix has confirmed today that the first major post-launch update for Rock Band 4 is going to be released next month, it going to bring several new features to this title, including but not limited to score challenge features, activity feed, in-game notifications of leaderboard events and more. Overall improvements to the title have also been made so players can expect improve calibration, detailed player stats, more song results details aside from the usual slew of bug fixes.

The whole suite of score challenge features has bene designed to “leverage the competitive heart of the game.” Activity feed lets players check the main menu log of leaderboard events so they can quickly jump to a track and regain their dominance if someone has proven to be better than them.

A new song indicator will let them know in-game when they pass a friend’s score. The results screen now gets a taunt system which lets players send friends they have outscored with a selectable randomized Taunt message, the message will be displayed in the recipient’s activity feed.

Aside from improved calibration the December update also adds variable breakneck speed that lets players individually set breakneck speeds of their tracks up to 2.5x. Full combo recognition and indicator will keep track of perfect streaks and an in-song indicator will let them know if they have broken their streak or if they are still on track for a full combo.

Also included in this update is a new gameplay mode that Harmonix is “really psyched about,” but it will only reveal more details about the new mode as update’s release date approacher closer. Rock Band 4 gets its first major update on December 8th, 2015.
