sprint

Sprint had previously said that it would make a couple of announcements today and indeed it has. Aside from launching the very same promotion that it launched last year, one that cuts your bill in half if you switch, the carrier has also announced the launch of its faster LTE Plus network today that’s being rolled out in 77 markets in initially.
The LTE Plus network is essentially based on two core technologies which include beamforming and carrier aggregation. With the latter Sprint can use multiple channels on its spectrum to basically create a large pipe to route data through, this brings potentially faster speeds and increased capacity. Beamforming is a signal processing technique that directs signals from multiple antennas towards the customers to provide much improved throughput particularly at cell edges and indoors.

Essentially with the LTE Plus network promises is increased network capacity and speeds that peak at 100Mbps on compatible devices. This is coupled with smart antenna technology that throws the signal further at 2.5GHz with overall reliability increasing due to usage of three spectrum bands, 1.9GHz for broad coverage, 2.5GHz for greater data speeds and 800Mhz for improved indoor coverage.

LTE Plus is now live in 77 markets across the country including major cities like San Francisco and New York City. The network is compatible with 13 devices on Sprint right now such as the HTC One A9 and Samsung Galaxy S6. Sprint will roll out LTE Plus to more markets and add support for devices down the road.
