Verizon today launched what it calls “simple prepaid service plans,” customers can now select from five new phone plans aimed for those who just want the basics, without having to make an annual contract or go through a credit check. All they need to do is choose the device they want and the plan that best suits their needs, they can pay ahead of time and commit for as long or as little as they like with the promise of no hidden fees or extra charges.

These simple prepaid smartphone plans start at $30 per month for unlimited talk and text with Wi-Fi only access for data, pay 45 and get 1GB of data alongside unlimited talk and text. For $60 per month customers get 3GB of data.

The truly basic phone plans start at just $15 per month for 300 voice minutes, text or multimedia messages plus unlimited mobile web, keep in mind that these plans can not be chosen with a smartphone. For $30 per month customers can get unlimited talk, text and mobile web.

Customers who would like to have more data with their prepaid plan can make an additional payment for it, $5 gets them 500MB for 30 days, $10 1GB for 90 days and $20 gets them 3GB that’s good for 90 days. Interested customers can now head over to Verizon’s prepaid pricing site and pick out a plan that they think best suits their needs.
