Mi_Air_Purifier_2_07If you have ever seen photos of the larger cities in China, you’ll realize that pollution is quite a big problem in the country. There have been some efforts made to cut it down, but due to the size of the population and the number of cars, buses, and motorbikes on the road, it all just adds up to a lot.

Now last year Xiaomi launched an air purifier in an attempt to help provide clear air to the homes of its customers at an affordable price. However it was pretty huge but if you wanted a smaller version, you’re in luck as Xiaomi has recently announced the Mi Air Purifier 2, the successor to last year’s model.

According to Xiaomi, the new model is 520mm tall, down from 735mm from the previous model. The base area is also around the size of an A4 piece of paper, so placing it in your home should not take up too much space. The new purifier will feature a single-motor, dual fan design versus last year’s model which had a dual-motor design.

The company claims that the Mi Air Purifier 2’s “CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) remains high at 330m³/h in standard mode and goes up to 388m³/h in Active mode. It can effectively clean the air in a 23m2 room in just 10 minutes.” The Mi Air Purifier 2 is priced at RMB 699 (~$109) with the standard air filter priced at RMB 149 (~$23) and the enhanced filter at RMB 169 (~$26).
