youtube-rewind-780When you’re watching a YouTube video on your phone and you want to skip to certain sections or rewind a particular scene, you can do it by scrubbing, which dragging the progress bar back and forth. Sometimes it’s not particularly accurate since it’s hard to see where you’re scrubbing on your phone, but it does the job.

That being said if you think that maybe having rewind/fast forward buttons is a better idea, you’re in luck. The folks at Android Police have given the YouTube APK a teardown and according to their findings, it seems that YouTube has included some assets that hints at rewind/fast forward buttons being included in the app.

However it seems that the feature might not have gone live yet, at least for the majority. There have been reports of the feature being enabled for some users, so we’re not sure how YouTube determines who gets it and who doesn’t. It might be that they’re slowly rolling out the feature so if you remain patient, it will eventually make its way to you.

The buttons will basically allow users to jump back and forth within the video by 10 seconds each, which seems more like a skipping feature rather than actual rewinding or fast forwarding like you might expect. Either way have you noticed those controls being added to your YouTube app on your Android phone?
