pumptube-1If you ride a bike, motorbike, or drive a car, you know that from time to time you need to pump air into those tires, at least you do if you want to ensure an optimal ride. However we know that some of you guys out there are lazy and the good news is that if you’re a cyclist, there might be a solution out there for you.

Dubbed the PumpTube, this is an invention by Benjamin Krempel and the idea here is that it is an inner tube for your bike’s tires that will be able to self-pump, meaning that as you cycle, it will continuously pump air into your tires to ensure that it never deflates and that it will always be at the pressure that you have set.

This doesn’t mean that it will go over and explode. Users will be able to control how much pressure they want by adjusting the valve, and once it has reached the desired level, it will stop pumping air. How it works is as you ride, the tire rolls against the ground and the pumping mechanism will be compressed.

As it is compressed, it forces air into the inner tube, and thanks to the absence of air in the pumping mechanism, it will create a vacuum effect which will end up drawing more air in. Unfortunately Krempel’s invention is still a prototype but he expects to take it onto Kickstarter once he has perfected its design.
