The Bugatti Veyron has long held the title of being one of the world’s fastest production cars. It became a toy for the rich and famous, something pretty to hang on the wall for people not as fortunate, yet the car captured imaginations of millions of people around the world. It’s the end of the road for the Bugatti Veyron, the company is shelving this car, but it’s bringing out something that’s going to be equally desirable if not more. The Bugatti Chiron will take over as the world’s fastest car from the Veyron.

Despite having been tightlipped about its next car for quite some time now, Bugatti has finally confirmed that the Chiron is coming next and that its new car will debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Bugatti has named this car after the Louis Alexandre Chiron who was instrumental in aiding Bugatti create its luxury lineup, rumor has it that Louis’ signature will be etched into the Chiron’s headsets.

The company itself hasn’t revealed any major details about the new car but it’s expected to be the fastest production car ever built that’s also capable of ferrying around its passengers in complete luxury. Bugatti is said to produce 500 units of the Chiron initially, the cost will obviously be quite high, and yet the rich and famous will shell out for it anyway.

Update: The Bugatti Chiron has been officially announced, it looks amazing and costs $2.6 million per unit.
