Many of us like to bingewatch shows on Netflix, there’s nothing wrong about it, but we tend to be not too happy with ourselves if we fall asleep during the middle of a bingewatching session. That happens quite often and Netflix’s new make it project will go a long way in making our lives much easier, since we will longer need to try and remember exactly where in the episode we fell asleep and then try and go back to that point.

Netflix socks is the answer to that problem, it’s a DIY project that automatically pauses the stream when you fall asleep. Socks pick up on readings from the body to determine when you have fallen asleep and then immediately pauses the stream.

The company didn’t just make these socks and show us that it can be done, it has actually put up several plans on its DIY website so that you and I can also make these socks and end our troubles of falling asleep when watching Netflix.

Netflix socks have a sleep detection system which works with “actigraphy,” it uses an accelerometer to ascertain when you have stopped moving for a while, it will then light up an LED in the cuff of the sock to warn the user that it’s about to pause the show. If there’s the slightest bit of movement the socks cancel the countdown but if there’s no movement then it pauses the stream.

Yes one can think about a dozen things that could have been done much better in this project but then again it’s not meant as a serious replacement, it’s just a fun idea that you can also replicate when you have free time over the holidays.
