Have you always wanted to travel the world? There are many ways that one could go about doing that, such as flying to various cities, driving, taking a cruise, backpacking, and so on. However engineer and architect Gianluca Santosuosso has come up with an interesting and novel way that might appeal to some of you guys.

What Santosuosso has come up with is a concept of a floating hotel. Now you might think isn’t traveling by a luxury cruise ship something similar to a floating hotel? We suppose you would be right in a way, but what makes his invention so unique is that his hotel comes with a spine that can shapeshift according to the ocean currents.

This means that instead of trying to fight against nature, a battle in which we humans have lost many times in the past, this floating hotel concept will instead embrace the currents by shifting its form according to it. The hotel will measure 1/2 mile long and will basically float its way around the world and will feature ports where ships can dock at, and will also eventually make its way to land where the hotel can then transform itself into a floating harbor.

It will also be able to draw power from the waves and energy from the sun via solar panels to keep itself operational. No doubt if this idea were to be made a reality, it would be a very expensive undertaking so we’re not sure if it will ever see the light of day, so in the meantime enjoy the concept video above.
