google android ios appsOne of the things that Google is known for would be its front page. Navigating on over to Google.com will display a page that’s clean, minimalistic, and it is usually just accompanied by Google’s logo, a search box, and some buttons. This is unlike other search providers like Yahoo or Bing who tends to display a bit more information.

That being said, it looks like Google has decided to utilize its space and has begun to advertise its iOS and Android apps as you can see in the screenshot above. Clicking on the links will take users to a new page where they can see the complete list of apps either designed for iOS or for Android.

Interestingly enough despite Google being an obvious competitor to Apple when it comes to the mobile space, Google has developed a total of 62 apps for iOS to date, ranging from more mainstream apps like Gmail to more back-end focused apps for webmasters and YouTube content creators.

It’s interesting to see Google start to make more use of what Re/code has referred to as its most prime real estate. Perhaps this could be a trend as we might start to see Google’s front page start being used to display more information in the future. Would that be a good or bad thing for you?
