gdrive searchIf you are a heavy user of Google Drive, there is a good chance that over the years you might have amassed quite a fair bit of files, photos, and documents. However if the previous method of searching for files was a bit too inefficient for your liking, Google has recently rolled out an update for Google Drive that will hopefully make things a bit easier.

According to Google, this update will help make finding your files easier and faster. “When you store important files in Google Drive they’re not only safe, they’re accessible from any device. And finding them again from any device should be super easy so we’re rolling out a new search experience to get you better results — even faster.”

To that end Google has introduced four new ways of searching for files. One of which is to be able to search for files via its file type. The second way is to use a more advanced  method through the advanced search options. A third way would be to access your more recent files directly from the home screen via 3D Touch on iOS devices, and last but not least users can search for files via the iOS search bar without even needing to open the Drive app.

Obviously the last two methods are targeted at iOS users, but more universal methods include searching for file via the file’s owner/email address, or searching for keywords or even the date the file was modified.
