Rockstar has gradually been releasing classic Grand Theft Auto titles for mobile and today it’s carrying on with that with the release of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for iOS. The title is available for both iPhone and iPad, this revamped version isn’t going to be much different than the game that was initially released back in 2005 for Sony’s PlayStation Portable handheld console.

Some new features have been added to the revamped version though, and some tweaks have been made to improve the overall experience. GTA: Liberty City Stories for iOS features both touch controls and support for a gamepad. It also includes ability to save games to the cloud, improved graphics as well as more streamlined and shorter missions designed with mobile gameplay in mind.

Liberty City Stories is basically a spinoff of Grand Theft Auto III, it is based on the same fictional iteration of New York City, but there’s a different story with gameplay elements being borrowed from newer GTA titles, such as the ability to ride motorcycles and even change clothes.

Rockstar has already released several GTA titles for mobile including Vice City, GTA III, Chinatown Wars and San Andreas. For now Liberty City Stories has only been released on iOS but Rockstar confirms that a port for Android is in the pipeline, so is one for Windows Phone.

GTA: Liberty City Stories for iPhone and iPad is now available for download from the App Store, it’s priced at $6.99.
