apple_logoThere are plenty of online photo storage and sharing websites, and Flickr is probably one of the more popular ones. The same can be said about camera types and brands as well, but according to Flickr’s statistics for the year 2015, it looks like Apple’s iPhone continues to dominate the Flickr platform.

According to Flickr, it has been revealed that Apple’s iPhone has continued to rise in terms of dominance on their platform. “As a reflection of its strong growth, Apple has dominated the top cameras used on Flickr in 2015; different iterations of the iPhone take 8 out of the top 20 spots.” In fact 6 of Apple’s iPhones were the top six devices on the list.

Coming in 7th would be Canon’s EOS 5D MK II. Flickr also notes that point and shoot cameras have been on a steady decline in the past few years, losing out their position to smartphone cameras which are admittedly a lot more convenient and to a certain extent, almost as good (if not better) than certain models.

They have also noted that SLR cameras have peaked and are slowly being overtaken by mirrorless cameras, devices which offers up SLR-like quality cameras minus the bulk. That being said, this is just one platform so it doesn’t necessarily indicate Apple’s dominance over the entire market, but if you ever wanted to look at iPhone photo samples, Flickr would be a pretty good resource.
