nikond5leak1We have been hearing a fair bit about the Nikon D5 lately and presumably with the constant leaks, an official announcement is around the corner. However if you’d rather not wait, the folks at Nikon Rumors have managed to get their hands on additional information about the upcoming camera.

For starters according to their sources, there could be two different models. One will support dual CF cards, the other will support double XQD memory. They have also heard that ISO for video recording can reportedly go as high as 102,400 and there might be a touchscreen LCD. Unfortunately it seems that there won’t be built-in WiFi but photographers can purchase an optional wireless charger.

Nikon Rumors have also heard a possible announcement date for the 12th of January, but we suggest you take this with a grain of salt, lest you end up being disappointed. As far as the rest of the specs are concerned, the Nikon D5 is said to sport a 20MP FX sensor, a new focusing module, new high native ISO, 4K video capture, and 15fps shooting.

So far it sounds like it would be a worthy successor to the Nikon D4 family of cameras, so hopefully at least some of the rumored specs and features come true, but do remember to check back with us during CES and CP+ next year for additional details, if there are any to be had.
