nexus-7-2-review--020This year marks the first time that Chinese company Huawei has made a Nexus handset for Google in the form of the Nexus 6P. However could the company be planning more Nexus-branded devices with Google? If you are a fan of Huawei and the products that they have made, then you might be pleased to learn that there could be a new Huawei Nexus device in the works.

According to the rumors, it seems to have been suggested that 2016’s Nexus 7 tablet could indeed be made by Huawei. So far there have been two Nexus 7 tablets released to date. One back in 2012, and another in 2013, both of which were made by ASUS. However the lack of a refresh in 2014 or 2015 seems to suggest that maybe Google might not be interested in the 7-inch form factor anymore.

However if anything this rumor suggests that Google could be planning a new Nexus 7 tablet for next year, with Huawei helming the ship. Unfortunately the specs and features of the alleged Nexus 7 (2016) is still a mystery, but the rumor claims that Google will most likely announce the device at Google I/O 2016, which we guess would make perfect sense.

Given Huawei’s choice to go with premium materials for the Nexus 6P, we have to wonder if this will apply to the Nexus 7 (2016). Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but if a 7-inch tablet is what you’re after and you want a stock Android experience, maybe you could try holding out until 2016.
