There’s really no limit to what you can create within Minecraft, and that’s one of the reasons why this game has such a diehard fan base, and primarily why this title is as popular as it is. This is something that I have not seen before though, a phone that’s built inside Minecraft, and yet it’s fully capable of making a video call.

Fair warning though, what you’re seeing here is a sponsored effort. CaptainSparklez, or Jordan Maron, is the man who built this. He starts off the video demo by saying straight off the bat that he has worked with Verizon on this creation. Dig further into the video description and it clearly states that the whole thing is sponsored.

Nonetheless, this doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a mobile phone made inside Minecraft that’s actually capable of doing stuff like making video calls. You even see the phone being used to browse the internet.

The graphics aren’t really that sweet since Minecraft renders the video calls in blocks, but that doesn’t take away from the awesome factor behind this creator, even though it’s promoting Boxel.

This is a web application developed by Verizon which translates web pages and streaming video into blocks so that they can be built on a Minecraft server in real time. The server plugin uses Boxel-client to handle the communication between Minecraft and the outside world which is translated by the web app.

Those who would like to take a go at this themselves can visit this website for further details on how to integrate Boxel into Minecraft.
