There are some who believe that virtual reality could be the next phase of gaming. We suppose it could be one aspect of gaming in the future, but what kind of games would you like to see in virtual reality? Genres like role-playing, action, or sports might seem pretty obvious, but how about playing pinball in virtual reality?

If you’re a huge fan of pinball, you might be interested to learn that there is a Kickstarter project for a game called Pinball Labs. In case it wasn’t obvious already, this is a pinball game designed for a virtual reality setting. This means if you’re sick of tapping your keyboard to activate the flippers on a pinball machine on your computer monitor, this will make it feel like the real thing, or at least something close enough.

According to the project’s description, Pinball Labs is more like an API. “Pinball Labs includes a host of virtual assets like pop-bumpers, slings, lights, spinners, drop-targets, plungers, etc., Pinball Labs’ editor will allow anyone to easily design and play their own virtual pinball machines with drag and drop simplicity.”

While it will support “regular” modes like for the PC and TV, the virtual reality component of it sounds the most interesting. If successful, the team is expecting to release their software in Q1 2016, so if you’d like to learn more or pledge your support, head on over to Kickstarter for the details.
