MAXPAYNE3DLC-51712-01When one sees that Max Payne has already been rated for the PlayStation 4 by the ESRB, then this is certainly the strongest hint yet that it could jolly well be a title that has been aimed at being the upcoming PS2 release. After all, Max Payne is one of the more memorable faces in the world of gaming, and it was the game that introduced bullet time in a big way – right after the Matrix was released in cinemas, of course.

The ESRB rating reveal does make plenty of sense, taking into consideration how Rockstar already owns three out of the eight spots in the PlayStation 2 library, and all three of those happen to be under the Grand Theft Auto franchise. For those who have not played Max Payne before, please do if it hits the PS4 – otherwise, you can do yourself a favor by checking it out on Steam.

Hopefully the PS4 version, if it arrives, will come with souped up graphics in order to match the experience on the PC, as a PS2 port had less than stellar graphics to show due to the limited hardware capabilities of the console all those years ago. Hopefully an official confirmation will arrive, and soon! [ESRB Ratings]
