skype logoSkype for the most part has been a pretty reliable piece of software. However it seems that in a recent update to Skype, a bug has been discovered that apparently will cause your messages to display out of order. This means that messages that were sent earlier might be displayed first, and so on, thus causing users to miss out on it.

Thankfully it seems that the Skype team has since acknowledged the bug. According to a post on the Skype forums, “This is unfortunately a known problem for some users of Skype for Windows with the very latest version 7.17.0.105 – As a temporary workaround while we are working on an updated version with a fix please download and install the previous version.”

The team has also provided a download link to the previous version of Skype, so if you are experiencing the bug then perhaps you should consider downgrading until the patch for the latest version has been released. If you are not experiencing any issues then by all means continue to go ahead and use it.

Note that this only seems to be affecting users of Skype on Windows. OS X users have not reported any issues with the app so if you are a Mac user, you should be fine.
