note3-split-screenWith our phone sizes being so big these days, having some kind of split screen functionality would no doubt come in handy. According to a report from last week, it was revealed by Google that they are working on the feature and that it come come in the next iteration of Android, which by all accounts should be Android N.

However there is a chance that it might arrive slightly earlier. According to a report from Android Geeks, they have heard from their trusted sources that split screen could be arriving in Android 6.1 instead, which should still be Marshmallow. They claim that their source has told them that Android 6.1 will be released in June and one of the features is split screen.

They also note that Android 6.1 won’t be a major update but it should bring about some new features all the same, which we can only assume will tide users over until Android 7.0 is released (assuming that’s the number Google is going with). To be fair the Google team did not confirm that split screen will arrive in Android N.

Instead they said that the feature was in the works, presumably for Android N but we guess if it arrives sooner, why not? Given Google’s past releases, Android N will probably be released towards the end of 2016 so if we can get the feature earlier, we’re all for it, but until then take it with a grain of salt.
