tesla_model_x_6Thinking of buying a Tesla, or maybe you already own a Tesla? The good news is that either way, Tesla will be giving you guys a free subscription to Spotify Premium. The bad news is that this promotion seems to only apply to Tesla owners who are living outside the US, such as those in Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong.

It’s rather interesting considering that many US companies tend to introduce features to the US market first before rolling out to other parts of the world, but either way it looks like Tesla owners and would-be owners can look forward to this feature which will be making its way to their vehicles via an update.

What’s even better news is that in case it wasn’t already obvious, the Spotify Premium subscription will be free of charge. The Spotify Premium feature will be baked into the car itself, meaning that if you’re not subscribed to Spotify Premium or own a Spotify account, fret not because it doesn’t matter.

Alternatively if you do and want to link your accounts, that shouldn’t be a problem either. According to Jonathan Tarlton, senior manager for Automotive Business Development at Spotify, “The car radio has not changed much at all, so what we’re doing with Tesla represents the future. Tesla owners will be able to access a full premium experience, free from adverts.” Prior to this, Tesla owners were able to stream music from Rdio, but given the closure, Spotify is a pretty decent alternative.
