Volkswagen has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons, it was caught cheating on emissions tests and the scandal is going to cost the company billions of dollars, not to mention the fact that it has damaged the company’s credibility in front of its customers and investors. The world moves on though and so will Volkswagen, what could be a better way of putting behind its diesel emissions scandal by introducing an electric car concept.

Cars of the future are expected to make big news at the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show next week, Ford is expected to announce its partnership with Google to build self-driving cars while Chevrolet is going to show off a production version of its Bolt electric car.

Volkswagen has started teasing an electric car concept for the trade show, Autocar believes that it’s going to be a long-range revival of the company’s iconic Microbus, only this time around it’s going to be powered solely by electricity.

The group has already confirmed that its CES 2016 keynote is going to focus on the latest developments in electric mobility and next-generation connectivity, launching a concept of an electric Microbus certainly fits the bill.

It remains to be seen though if the new concept will carry on the Microbus moniker or if Volkswagen is going to introduce the production version with a completely new brand.
