For the past few years, 2K Games has teamed up with World Wrestling Entertainment to develop wrestling games for fans on multiple platforms. It has proven to be a beneficial partnership for both parties which is why it’s not surprising to see that they’ve decided to keep things as they are for the next few years. 2K Games has confirmed that it’s going to retain the rights to make and release WWE titles on all platforms for the next few years.

World Wresting Entertainment has had a video game franchise for nearly two decades. The very first games very published by THQ and it was only after that company folded that Take-Two, 2K’s parent company, acquired the franchise rights in early 2013.

The latest WWE release from 2K Games came out back in October last year, WWE 2K16, it’s available now and continues to receive new DLC content periodically. We are very pleased to extend our partnership with WWE and look forward to many more years of collaboration,” says David Ismailer, COO at 2K. Terms of the new deal have not been revealed.

The deal it has signed gives it rights on all platforms so that includes both consoles and mobile devices. 2K has said in its announcement that it will continue to invest in the spinoff WWE SuperCard card-battling game despite providing any specific plans about the direction this game could take.
